The Compassionate Gospel of Jesus Christ
“Feed My lambs – Feed My sheep – Feed My sheep”.
James LeBeau – The Perfect Health Foundation
Seven ways the gospel of Jesus offers salvation
not only from sin but also from sickness.
ONE – RESPECT
How it works: Jesus taught respect for life as it works at the organic horizontal ground level. He explained that God’s love works to support human wellness even more than it does for the “birds of the air” and “lilies of the field – O you of little faith”. The thought ”the hairs on your head are all numbered” carries this idea of respect for creation down to the fine details. This is all consistent with Psalm 24:1. – “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof”. The idea of respect for creation actually permeates the Bible from Genesis to Job to the Psalms to the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew. It also should permeate every Christian heart, but does it?
“Your faith has made you whole” - whole is the adjective – wholeness the noun.
Without respect – dirty technology is used to make a buck – chemicals to grow food for example that end up on our own dinner plates and drinking water and bloodstreams. Some get washed down to the oceans and kill them too. Genetically modify food and don’t put it on the label so the children of God don’t know what they are eating. Without respect it’s easy to replace a breast with a bottle and substitute a drug for a healthy lifestyle. It’s easy to identify an “active” bio-molecule in a food or herb, tweak it in a lab, patent it, call it a “drug”, sell it for a thousand times more than its cost, and drive a country broke paying for it through Medicare and Medicaid. Meanwhile natural bio-molecules made by God with healing power documented in the National Library of Medicine go to waste. Without respect it’s easy to mess things up in a million ways – the planet included. God may get less respect for His creation than Rodney Dangerfield. This is a danger field!
With respect – it’s clean technology. It’s food without chemicals, antibiotics, and hormones. It’s babies fed with mother’s milk and mother’s love. The body “temple” (home of His Spirit) radiates wellness for those who follow His example of “Heal thyself”. If sickness comes natural methods are a first fix rather than a drug or the knife. With respect “all things” do indeed “work together for good”. We can sing “How Great thou art” and be happy that it is not just about “rolling thunder”. It’s also about rolling fields of apples and pears and blueberries and whole grains of wheat with power to treat or prevent diabetes and high blood pressure, just one of many examples of how it works. (www.nlm.nih.gov). Don’t make a religion out of nutrition. Do make a religion out of respect.
TWO – FORGIVENESS
How it works: Whatever and whoever we do not forgive locks our minds to the past. Frozen in the past we are not free to experience a present moment of freedom and peace or His presence in our lives. A festering anger weakens our spirits producing hormones that destroy our bodies. An unforgiving soul does not enjoy salvation from either sin or sickness - a forgiving soul from both.
“Which is it easier to say – your sins are forgiven you or take up your bed and walk”.
THREE – FASTING AND PRAYING
How it works: In Freedom From Chronic Disease Arthur Kaslow M.D., writes about his natural health clinics in California where most patients find 80% of their symptoms gone after a two day fast on distilled water. Others report fasting as the “quickest way to balance body chemistry”. Even a short fast gives the body a chance to reset itself. Add the power of prayer and you may have a total reset. Not just Jesus but wise men through the ages have recognized the power of fasting and praying to give both body and soul a reset – a respite – a rest. This also goes along with “Deny yourself” and “self control” in terms of denying yourself what you know hurts your body “temple”. That’s not just fasting from alcohol and cigarettes. It’s junk foods and junk drinks too.
“This kind can come forth by nothing but by prayer and fasting” (Mark 9:
FOUR – FAITH
How it works: How often have we heard that stress kills? What conquers stress better than faith and trust? Didn’t Jesus say “Do not be anxious” about this or that? In other words, trust the system “O you of little faith”. Of course if we mess up the system then there isn’t much to trust – which brings us back to respect and the importance of these principles working together as a whole. 29)
FIVE – CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP
How it works: Studies have shown that people who go to church and enjoy good fellowship are happier and live longer. God to church - love your neighbor - serve one another - it all helps.
SIX – PATIENCE & PERSISTENCE
How it works: For those who want a healthy change in life patience and persistence are major keys to success. Cells in a body don't replace themselves overnight. Some take weeks, some months, and some years. If you start using natural things God made to balance your body you must give it time. You can rarely fix a pH or digestion or blood imbalance in a few days. This is where persistence comes in. All of this applies to spiritual growth too.
“In patience you shall possess your souls”.
SEVEN - LOVE
How it works: Love gives purpose to life. Without love in life why be healthy? Why stick around? Love is the glue of life. Love connects all things. Love reconciles each of us to one another and all of us to God. Love makes it all worthwhile. "Perfect love casts out fear". Touch someone with love, the touch of Christ. To find the Source of love, a living fountain of WELL-ness to drink from, focus on thoughts that seed a support a compassionate gospel. That Source of "incorruptible seed" is the word of Christ found in books written by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
“Love one another as I have loved you” - “And the greatest of these is love”.
Put it all together and you have power to “Heal the sick” (a commandment of Christ)
"It is enough that the servant be as the Master".
MASTERY: Going through life we are asked to master many things. These include mastering our ABC's, riding a bike, getting good on a computer, driving a car, and mastering courses for a "master's" degree. Then we master a job, building a house, writing a book, getting along with others...and the challenges go on to the job of mastering old age after you've muddled through middle age. Along the way we hopefully become aware that there is a thing called spiritual mastery. That is the whole point of it all. Every other kind of "mastery" is just practice for this.
What is "spiritual" mastery?
Spiritual mastery could be described as a place where the "world" doesn't get to you anymore. If it does it's only for a short time. It could be learning to be "happy under all circumstances" as the apostle Paul wrote from a jail cell. It could be "perfect love" that "casts out fear" (1John,4:18). It could be "self control" (fruit of the Holy Spirit) combined with surrender to God ("thy will be done"). It could be all of these things and more combined into one whole experience of life - fruit ripening on the vine.
As with many things spiritual mastery is something you likely won't understand until you experience it. You are sure never to experience it unless you get started on the path that takes you there. The time to start is now.
What to master first?
There are many good reasons to make mastery of your health a first priority among things to master.
A first good reason is that without health most other kinds of mastery are impossible.
A second good reason to master your health is to avoid miseries in the form of sickness or disease or aches and pains. These may include miseries like depression, fatigue, addictions, hopelessness, giving up on life etc. If you talk to people who have achieved a high level of health they will tell you that it's hard to feel bad mentally or emotionally when you feel really good physically. This has to do with pH and blood sugar and digestion and other basic balances that you can read about on other pages of this website.
A third good reason to master your health is about brain function. The more biochemical imbalances in your body the more likely your brain function will be off balance - a left brain/right brain or "half brained" thing. This is no way to feel on top of life. A chiropractic fix is less likely to hold. A millions things can go wrong. More likely you feel on the bottom of things, not the top.
A fourth good reason to master your health is because disciplines needed to control bad habits that are making you sick are the same disciplines needed for spiritual mastery. Spiritual mastery is the grand prize. You don't want to miss that. Spiritual mastery is the only kind of mastery that is long term. You can build a bank account that you do take with you when you "go" - that "rust does not consume, nor moths destroy". You don't want to miss out on that.
Consider the alternative...
Without mastery of your health you may become a victim of something bad sooner rather than later. If it's a surprise heart attack and you don't make it to the hospital in time you may not even know what hit you. You might be blindsided. If it's not sudden death it could be the slow downhill drag that many experience past age 40 - some sooner. "Why me Lord"? Without mastery you have to take what life throws at you. You are not in charge.
Without God all sad and sick things are possible. "With God all things are possible".
